Training: Archive Remix, a Creative Session with Super 8 Film

Learn how to creatively rework and handle Super 8 film in this practical one-day workshop, run by Straight8 in collaboration with London’s Screen Archives.

This workshop is designed for anyone looking to gain or enhance their skills in the practical creative reuse of archive film. Participants will explore the historical significance of Super 8 mm film, before diving into a hands-on session cutting, splicing, handling, manipulating, and getting creative with archival materials.

By the end of the day, participants will have gained an understanding of the history of Super 8 as well as its cultural and technical significance, and gained practical experience and confidence in working with archival film in playful, inventive ways.

Screenings and archive packages

London’s Screen Archives can come to you with a bespoke programme of classic home movies, silent-era newsreels and stunning amateur footage, all specially curated to delight your audience. In the past we’ve worked with the London Museum, Chocolate Films, the Thames Festival Trust, and a wide range of schools, museums and libraries to curate archive packages that awe and inspire. Donating films

From professional productions to amateur home movies, London’s Screen Archives considers all moving image precious and we want to work with you to preserve it. If you have a collection of films or even just a single tape or digital file that you think may be of interest, please complete this form and we will get back to you. Even if your donation does not fit the network’s collection policy, in many cases we will be able to provide you with advice on what to do next.
