Summary: A promotional video for Gingerbread Holidays, an affordable holiday club in Cambourne,

Title number: 21513
LSA ID: LSA/28216
Description: The video is composed of vignettes of the bucolic scenery and leisure activities offered by Gingerbread Holidays and various interviews with parents, children, care workers and the holiday-home workers A woman who works from the holiday home speaks about their work, and how they support single-parents and how working with social workers ensures greater health and safety for both sides. We see a fictional re-enactment of a scene where two children have been left in the care of another family, as their dad had to return to hospital.
Sometimes agencies and social workers bring a group with them – Caroline, from a mother’s and babies’ home, Richmond House in London, brought a group of single mothers on holiday. She speaks about how it was a chance for bonding and trust-building between social workers and single mothers. We see footage of single fathers too. The narrator also emphasises how the home is also a space for foster children. An interview between one of the holiday-home workers and a young man reveals how he has been returning and giving back to the community throughout his holidays, how he arrived as a naughty child before becoming one of the youth leaders.
The final part of the video details what kind of information a social worker would provide the holiday home with, such as dietary requirements, medication and health details, as well as any information about a child’s mental-health and situation at home.
