Summary: Black and white footage of the young people from the Intermediate Education Centre (IEC) capturing the activities within the Basement Projects in Tower Hamlets. Such as dramatic improvisations, dancing, socialising and sharing cups of tea. The tape to teach young people how to use camera equipment. Use of derogatory language to sex workers.

Description: The audio is mostly inaudible with the tape disjointing midway through. The Intermediate Education Centre (IEC) comprised of young people aged 12 to 16. The video starts with white working class young people dancing to pop music whilst being filmed, “Oh, what a night!” by The Four Seasons is heard. The children dance in face paint adorned with fancy dress hats, they improvise mock plays and sing “Oh dear what could the matter be.” They are playful and anarchic, until the video cuts to a more organised improvisation led by their teacher, Penny Cunnington. Penny plays a mock news reporter as the children reenact an old lady being mugged, this then proceeds into the teacher and students pretending to be sex workers on Brick Lane. The remainder of the tape is filming of people socialising in the Basement, such as play rehearsals, meetings and cups of tea.
