Title number: 21523
LSA ID: LSA/28226
Description: The first interview is with Pauline, who is 19. She responds to the videomaker who asks questions from behind the camera. She mentions growing up in East London, having been born in Mile End Hospital and going to school in Tower Hamlets. She speaks about her personal life, and jokingly tells the interviewer to mind their own business at points, showing a casual and trusting relationship between the two. She hopes to become a nurse.
She speaks about feeling neglected by her boyfriend Allen who she rarely sees. When asked about her future, she mentions how she wants to have 4 children and go out to the theatre with her partner. She is unsure whether Allen is the right future partner.
The next interview is positioned almost identically with Elizabeth, who comes from Grenada. A bit older than Pauline, Elizabeth is a working woman. She discusses her problems in her work – a manager who does not trust her opinion.
Elizabeth spends more time discussing the future – of how she would raise children while working at the same time, and what she hopes for in a future partner. She mentions how she would like to own a telly and a radio. In a humorous moment before the tape ends, she mentions that her boyfriend is arriving so they have to wrap up the interview.
